REI Volunteers 2012

With a new spring comes a new year of volunteer projects on the Greenway! We are excited to kick off our first Neighborhood Partners Environmental Team (NPET) monthly volunteer event on Saturday, March 2. 

NPET is open to EVERYONE, and meets on the first Saturday of each month (spring-fall) from 9 a.m. until noon. Typical volunteer activities include trash pick up, invasive species removal, painting over graffiti, and other basic trail maintenance. We rotate our work site each month between Sand Creek, Westerly Creek, and Bluff Lake Nature Center.

April 6: Westerly Creek in Stapleton
May 4: Bluff Lake Nature Center
June 1: Commerce City Wetlands Park, Sand Creek Regional Greenway (National Trails Day)
July 13: Westerly Creek in Stapleton (Please note the date change)
August 3: Bluff Lake Nature Center (Please note the location change)
September 7: Sand Creek Regional Greenway (10th Annual REI/Sand Creek Volunteer Day)
October 5: TBA
November 2: TBA

About the Greenway

The Sand Creek Regional Greenway is a jewel in the necklace of trails that has made Denver a national model for linked trail systems.

This 14-mile public greenway connects the High Line Canal in Aurora, Colorado with the South Platte River Greenway in Commerce City. Along the way, it passes through northeast Denver and the new Stapleton community.

The Sand Creek Regional Greenway is open every day from dawn until dusk. Runners, walkers, nature viewers, horseback riders, and leashed dogs are encouraged to enjoy the trail. We invite you to become acquainted with our wilderness in the city.
