Extended Greenway Closure at Star K Ranch

April 10, 2019

UPDATE: 4/30/19. This closure is now in effect and we’ve heard from Aurora Water that it will be in place through May 31.

We learned this morning from our friends and partners at Aurora Water that a closure of at least eight weeks is necessary to work on a pipeline on our Sand Creek Greenway between Chambers and Airport Roads.

This closure is expected to begin “mid April” and Aurora Water requests that trail users look for and respect closure signs as there will be hazards on trail. We will post–as soon as we know–the actual closure dates, as many trail users rely on our Greenway as a safe transportation route and an important recreational resource.

Our thanks to Aurora Recreation, Parks & Open Space personnel for keeping the Morrison Nature Center and Star K Ranch’s Wetland Loop trail open during the construction period.

Take Action!

About the Greenway

The Sand Creek Regional Greenway is a jewel in the necklace of trails that has made Denver a national model for linked trail systems.

This 14-mile public greenway connects the High Line Canal in Aurora, Colorado with the South Platte River Greenway in Commerce City. Along the way, it passes through northeast Denver and the new Stapleton community.

The Sand Creek Regional Greenway is open every day from dawn until dusk. Runners, walkers, nature viewers, horseback riders, and leashed dogs are encouraged to enjoy the trail. We invite you to become acquainted with our wilderness in the city.
