Public Open House – Master Plan Revision on Sept. 9th

August 29, 2014

The City of Aurora Parks, Recreation and Open Space (PROS) is hosting a public open house on September 9. I am assisting the project team with the public input process, and we hope you will be able to join us. Sand Creek Park, located at 2700 N. Peoria Street, is undergoing a master plan revision and we want to hear what you think. The original master plan was developed in 1996. Many changes have occurred in the area since that time.

Sand Creek Park is one of Aurora’s two designated Large Urban Parks. The master plan revision is seeking to protect existing improvements, enhance natural areas, and accommodate additional improvements to support the increasing demand for parks in our growing City. The public input process began with a public meeting on June 10. Since then, a variety of meetings and activities to get public input have taken place and will continue through August. From this input a proposed master plan concept will be created.

You are invited to view this concept and share your thoughts. Please stop by anytime between 5:30 and 7:30 on Tuesday, September 9 at North Middle School, located at 12095 E. Montview Blvd.  For more information please call Ed Shalkey, Principal Landscape Architect, City of Aurora PROS, at (303) 739-7596, or feel free to call (303 929-3848)

Sand Creek Regional Greenway Partnership

About the Greenway

The Sand Creek Regional Greenway is a jewel in the necklace of trails that has made Denver a national model for linked trail systems.

This 14-mile public greenway connects the High Line Canal in Aurora, Colorado with the South Platte River Greenway in Commerce City. Along the way, it passes through northeast Denver and the new Stapleton community.

The Sand Creek Regional Greenway is open every day from dawn until dusk. Runners, walkers, nature viewers, horseback riders, and leashed dogs are encouraged to enjoy the trail. We invite you to become acquainted with our wilderness in the city.
